No cloud · On your devices

A baby monitor that never touches the internet.

LIL1 turns two of your own Apple devices, iPhone, iPad, or Mac, into a private baby monitor. Audio, and video on demand, stream directly between your devices. The feed only ever lives on your own devices.

LIL1's live baby video on iPad. LIL1's start screen on iPhone, choosing between the baby and parent device.
No cloud · On your devices

Built to keep your baby's room private

No backend, no cloud, no third-party network service. Just your own devices, talking directly.

Local-only by design

Your devices connect directly over Apple's peer-to-peer transport. No backend, no cloud, no router required, and nothing to breach.

Encrypted & PIN-paired

The connection is always encrypted, and only devices paired with the baby unit's 6-digit PIN can connect. A second parent device, say a grandparent's, joins with the same PIN.

Audio always, video on demand

Lightweight live audio is the default. Pull up the video stream only when you want to take a look. In a dark nursery, the camera brightens the picture by itself. And when your baby stirs, hold to talk: your voice plays on the baby unit.

Alerts when it gets loud

Set a sensitivity and LIL1 sends a Time Sensitive notification the moment the room gets loud, so a glance at the lock screen is enough.

Battery- & range-aware

Audio-only sips power for long nights, the parent device shows the baby unit's battery, and you can even dim its screen from your side.

Works with no internet

Same Wi-Fi, or just nearby with Wi-Fi + Bluetooth on, a direct link forms even with no router and no internet. Holiday home, hotel room, internet outage: LIL1 just keeps working.

Reach at a glance

Both devices show how far the connection reaches, live. Wander through the house and you see the link getting thin before it drops, not after.

Also on your Mac

The same app runs on Apple Silicon Macs, in either role: leave a MacBook near the crib, or keep an eye from the desk while you work.

Apple-native, no SDKs

Built entirely on Apple frameworks. No third-party dependencies, no analytics SDKs, nothing phoning home.

Accessible to every parent

VoiceOver and Voice Control work throughout the app, text scales up to the largest sizes, reduced motion is respected, and no state is shown by color alone.

A calmer kind of monitor

Up and running in under a minute. Two devices, one PIN, no setup account.

2

Pair with a PIN

The baby unit shows a 6-digit PIN. Enter it on the parent device to pair securely.

3

Or just watch it happen

The whole setup, recorded in real time: choose the role, tap the baby unit, type its PIN, soothe with a quick hold-to-talk, and the live video is there. No account anywhere in between.

The most private monitor is one that collects nothing

LIL1 has no server to send anything to. We don't have your data because the data never leaves your devices.

  • No account, no sign-up, no email required.
  • No cloud, no servers, no internet routing of your feed.
  • No analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers in the app.
  • Microphone and camera are used only to stream directly to your other device.

Your baby's feed only ever lives on your own devices.

Common questions

Does LIL1 use the cloud or the internet?

No. LIL1 has no server and no cloud. Audio and video stream directly between your devices over Apple's local peer-to-peer transport, so the feed never touches the internet.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No account, no sign-up, and no subscription, ever. LIL1 is a one-time purchase, with no recurring fees and nothing to renew.

How much does LIL1 cost, and can I try it first?

You get 10 minutes of free monitoring to pair your two devices and check the audio and video quality before you decide. To monitor without the time limit, unlock the full version with a one-time purchase of €2.99 / $2.99. One purchase, no subscription, and it works on every device signed in to your Apple Account. Family Sharing is supported too, so one purchase covers your whole family group.

Do both devices need the purchase?

No. Only the parent unit, the device you listen and watch on, ever asks for the unlock. The baby unit is always free, and your free minutes only count while you are actually monitoring. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so unlocking once also covers every device signed in with it.

What do I need to use it?

Two devices running iOS 17 or later, in any mix of iPhone and iPad, and a Mac with Apple silicon can stand in for either one. One acts as the baby unit, the other as the parent unit.

Can an old iPhone or iPad be the baby unit?

Yes, that is one of the best uses for LIL1. An old device from a drawer, running iOS 17 or later, makes a perfect permanent baby unit. And if your baby monitor ever stays at home, on a trip or at the grandparents, two devices become a monitor in under a minute.

Does LIL1 run on a Mac?

Yes. On Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later), the same app installs from the Mac App Store and can act as either the baby unit or the parent unit. A MacBook in the nursery or a Mac on your desk pairs with your iPhone or iPad exactly the same way.

Can LIL1 alert me if my baby cries?

Yes. Turn on sound alerts and set a sensitivity, and the parent device sends a Time Sensitive notification when the room gets loud, so you see it even from the lock screen. A live meter helps you calibrate it to the room.

Can I talk to my baby through LIL1?

Yes. Hold the talk button on the parent device and your voice plays on the baby unit, like a walkie-talkie. Release, and you are listening again. The baby unit stays in charge: it decides whether talking is allowed and how loud your voice plays. And like everything in LIL1, your voice streams directly between your devices, never through a server.

Can more than one device watch the baby unit?

Yes. Several parent devices can connect to the same baby unit at once, each paired with the same PIN. Both parents, or a grandparent in the next room, can each listen and pull up the video on their own device.

Does it work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. On the same Wi-Fi the devices connect directly, and even with no router they can link up when nearby over Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth. No internet is required.

How far does the range reach?

On the same Wi-Fi network, the range is your network's coverage, so anywhere your router reaches. With no network at all, the devices link directly over peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, similar to AirDrop, which in practice spans several rooms depending on walls. A shared Wi-Fi network on both devices gives the best range.

What is the video quality, and does it work at night?

Video streams at 720p, directly from device to device. In the dark, an automatic night mode brightens the image once the camera reaches its limits; a little ambient light, like a night light or a lit hallway, gives the clearest picture. The heart of LIL1 stays the sound: audio and alerts work in any light.

Can the baby unit run for long sessions?

Yes. For the night, keep the baby unit plugged in; iOS manages charging on its own. You can dim the baby unit's screen from the parent device, which saves energy and keeps the device cool. And a retired device from the drawer is happy to stay on the charger permanently.

Is my baby's audio or video recorded or stored?

No. The microphone and camera are used only to stream live to your other device. Nothing is recorded, uploaded, or routed through us or any third party.

How are the devices paired, and is it secure?

The baby unit shows a 6-digit PIN. Enter it on each parent device to pair. The connection is always encrypted, so only devices paired with that PIN can connect.

Bring the monitor home, without bringing it online
